A short documentary, made from the gamers' point of view, about how playing World of Warcraft has affected their lives and how they see it fit in with modern society

  1. Film review by: Amber and Natalie

Spending time playing computer games should have a limited time so that you do not become addicted and obsessed with the program. However every person has a choice as to how they live their lives and how they interact with others and the world around them. This documentary of ‘world of war craft’ did not have an appealing style in which the way it was created. The documentary is about researching the game and its factual aspects. Throughout the film there was no written information given, the only way it was portrayed was through verbal dialogue. The documentary did not come across as very professional, as the body posture of the people who were being interviewed was not proper, they were slouched over sitting in a chair and did not come across as very businesslike or sophisticated. Another reason why we did not enjoy the film was because the lighting that was used in the documentary was very dark and gloomy and the viewers could not see the face of the person being interviewed very clearly. Through watching this film it has come to our attention that there are no questions being asked directly by interviewer to the interviewee, there are only answers to the question which we have to believe they have been asked. Compared to other documentaries that we have viewed, this particular documentary does not have the some good qualities as some of the other documentaries that we have viewed. Some of the good qualities of the film are that the filming was very steady and clear. Overall the film was well made but some changes could be done to improve the film and make the quality of it as good as some of the other films we have seen.

  2. Amber and Natalie, what would you have done to improve this doco? Who else do you think should have been interviewed besides the gamers?

  3. World of Warcraft Addiction

    ★★★★

    Gaming room based
    Social concern based

The Documentary is based on the addiction to an animated world. This is said that it is addictive because people want to escape real life and live in a world that is everlasting and lots of fun. The game is very addictive and the documentary has covered everything I would have based my documentary of the same genre on.
The acting was very good in the documentary, and the people interviewed delivered a very good perspective to the subject.
The directing of the video was done very well, the whole video makes a load of sense and, I feel that I can relate to the video, and can understand how it can be dangerous.
Editing in the video was done very well. The way they have used animations makes me more attentive toward the video, it has truly captured the essence of a real documentary.
The clothing in the video was very well recognised, because people that play world of Warcraft don’t usually wear business suits, but rather casual clothes.
The sets were very good in the sense that you’re in their environment and can see how they are used to life, it also gives u a glimpse of what they enjoy and do in response to this addiction.
Photography was very good, i liked how they had a small background on the screen just behind the person that was being questioned, this gave me an idea of what they looked like “in game”
The background music was very well played and was set at the right tone, the opening credits gave me an idea of what the game is like and what i can expect to get “addicted” to.
I don’t know if there was much to improve on in this specific documentary, beside the video quality, the video would have been much more enjoyable and interactive to its audience.
People can learn from this video rather the video learn from others, it was very good and captured every important aspect of the game that can be dangerous and what we should avoid to be safe from its dangerous nature.

  4. World of Warcraft: Dangerous Addiction or Cultural Phenomena. This documentary was a really good and it was a good idea to use Mr.T for it because there is a lot of people that like him and it made the doco really funny and that have get the people atantion. the doco was based on is the gane a addiction or not because lots of people is playing the game for hours because it"s a fun game to play and you can talk to heaps of people. This documentary was great becuase the people who were interviewed have made a good point of the game and the vdeo was good because it had my atention all the time and the way they made was really good. the way the people looked told me the game is a addication because they all look fat and most gamers are fat and the clothes their were can tell u that they are alwys playing games. Where they made the doco was a great place because its a game aamd they were in game rooms were people were busy playing the game. i dont think there is something teir could do to make it beter because it was really good and the video could tell me if it's a addiction or not and i thinks this game can tell people its okay to kill people

  5. To improve this documentary Natalie and myslef would have changed the set of where the documentary was filmed,to add a more buissness like affect.Throughout this film the interviewee's were gamers of the computer game World of War Craft. Not only could the film makers have filmed the gamers but also the people of society, who do not see the beneficail side of playing the game. Therefore the audience would get to see both sides to the story.
